TS3 Copy Protection
#1
Straight from Rod Humble over at thesims3.com

Hello everyone I wanted to share news with you regarding our copy protection plans for The Sims 3.

We’ll have more information for you as we get closer to launch about everything we’ll have to offer on TheSims3.com and The Sims 3 Store, but we have heard your requests over the past months and here is our plan for The Sims 3.

The game will have disc-based copy protection – there is a Serial Code just like The Sims 2. To play the game there will not be any online authentication needed.

We feel like this is a good, time-proven solution that makes it easy for you to play the game without DRM methods that feel overly invasive or leave you concerned about authorization server access in the distant future.

We’re really excited to bring you the game for the PC and Mac starting June 2, 2009. The extra time we’ve taken to polish the game has resulted in an even better game experience for you to enjoy and we can’t wait for you to see for yourself!

Thanks for your passion and your loyalty.
Rod Humble

This is great news for all who dislike Securom, as it seems they have listened to the outcry, and maybe also due to the 4 or 5 lawsuits pending against them over said DRM.

Thanks for the news, kwillag! I suspect the 4 of 5 pending lawsuits have at least as much an impact on this decision as the "public outcry from the community..."

Well, with SECURom out of the way, there is now a possibility I'll actually buy this thing. I'll still wait and see what the reveiws say... Not that I put faith in the opinions of the reviewers, but because they usually also show some kind of clue as to the actual gameplay. We shall see.

Do you google search and you will find quite a few cracks. Be careful not to download a cracked version of the game. The file should be not larger be no larger than 30mb. IF you download something that is over that file size you may be downloading a full version of the game.

Princedavis is right and crack is the very good solution which is the most usable in the games to use as a full version. There are also option to get a keygen of a game to get the full version. Keygen is the key generator which gives you a key to unlock the game or use as full version.

What copy protection does GA have? Did EA also opt in using check disc method like in The Sims 3? I still haven't installed my Spore because of the drm issues.
