Hi guy´s,
I decided to explain u , how to Remeshing something , whats allready exist:

!!! U will need basically knowledge about controling Simpe !!!

1. Step Extracting Mesh Data in SimPE

Clone the object, what u want to remesh
Choose a new name, add a new catalog description and enter the price.
Register the Object and "get a guid"

If u have done this, u have to choose in the resource tree the
GeometricData pool ( TSLOCATOR ) the GDMC file...choose it !

now u have to pick the mesh data on the resource List (usual there r 2 files, one is Groundshadow, 1 Mesh)... Choose the Mesh file!

Now opens the bottom window with the "Geometric Rcol Editor"
There u are able to open a Mesh preview...

Now klick on Resource list the Tslocator file with right click and choose
Extract (NOTE: Save it were u remember)

2. Step Remeshing in milkshape

Now open Milkshape!

Click on:
FILE => IMPORT => SIMS2 UNIMESH IMPORTER 4.X => choose the file, u did extracted before [simpe might to save it as X.5gd or X.simpe and an X.XML (u won´t need)]

For example u would show u now how to remove the Roof from car...

On the right side u see a Toolbar: "MODEL", "GROUPS", "MATERIAL" and "JOINTS"

click on "MODEL" and click select. Now its time to remove the roof...
Now draw a box around the VERTEXES u wanna remove while clicking and holding the left mouse button like this:
For selecting vertexes step by step u need to hold down a SHIFT button...

(NOTE: choose only the Vertexes u wanna remove, sometimes u need to
zoom in sharp for selecting the right vertexes
)
Like this:

Sometimes it won´t be deleted while pressing the DELETE button, so u have to choose it from the interface...

if u have done this, it would shown like this:

For changing the design of a mesh, click on the toolbar "SELECT" choose the vertexes u wanna move, then click on tool bar "MOVE".
Now click on ur selected vertexes and move it somewhere u want...
Like i did:

(NOTE: u have to select every time before u wanna move a new Vertex)

3. Step Joint corrections in milkshape

Ur model is ready? No stop ! i think u gonna save it, but don´t save it as ms3d file...
u Have to save as exportet simpe or 5gd file... if u don´t do that, ur model
will loose all joints... now and then a backup would be advisable...

(NOTE: Make sure ,that in the joints tool are 2 ticks like this...)
If it isn´t, the blue Circles (joints) don´t be displayed...

when u have changed some details like streching like a Limo or shrink to a smart (lool) u have to correct the joints placement...

Click on model , then select , then joint... then draw a box around the joints u need...
The selected joints will now glowing in red...
(NOTE: The joints will point to the GAME in which puts to itself the fulcrums for animations consider...
So the positions must be exactly!!
Example: Wheels middle from front , side and upper view :

Check out before beginning remesh a object , the originally one first...
take a screen shot for example... like i did... The finetuning follows later...

Now its readdy to save.... like i told in at the beginning of this step.

4. Step Import new model into SimPE

Open SimPE ,open u cloned objectfile, switch on the GDMC FILE
Copie with right click the originally filename before, u r exchanging the file
[Image: example10B.jpg]

Then click on the file right and choose "Exchange" then choose ur modified Object...then click on preview...

Now could see ur new model... SAVE IT with clicking on commit !

5. Step Joints position fixing

Now the hard work!
For this i have to say thank u to THE_GREAT_OZ for his help and explaining me how to use it...

Quote:THE_GREAT_OZ WRIGHTS:
ok so sounds to me like you have adjusted the joints in milkshape and they didnt stay when you exported to simpe, if so then you are doing it right, what you are going to have to do is go to the CRES in simpe and find the joints listed there, they will be towards the bottom of the list, and then you are going to have to adjust them using numbers, basically if you move the Right Rear Wheel Rot Joint, you are going to want to move it in the first three areas that are x,z,y and that will move it up and down, left and right, and in and out, Im not sure how it is all set up, but that is the quick rundown of it. you can check the joint postion in SimPE in the GMDC in the preview window, just look at the tire that you adjusted and see if the joint is centered, you can do the same with the doors or the drivers slot and lights, but for all those you have to go into the game, If you need anymore help just let me know, I am around still, just not creating for the game and yes I do still play the game every now and then. Here is a screen to help ya out a little bit, notice that the lights are listed singly there, as are the joint for the wheels, you only need to adjust the ROT joints, not the trans ones, and if it is the same height and width then you will only need to move them back or foward, Hope this helps, [Image: SimPEJointhelp.jpg] OZ

for u have to open the CRES file:

(NOTE:changing joints positions could be previewed in the Geometric Preview... But thing like LIGHTS and Passenger Positions must be checked out in the game directly!! Also note, that the centre Joint is Point zero = that means all collects points begin with zero in a coordinate system like the example shows: )[Image: Koordinatensystem1.gif]

change the values and save them with clicking on commit ,then save the objectfile...

Try it out and don´t give up...
If u had done this, ur model will be ready for retexturing...

Hope it helps and have fun with creating something new !!
Happy simming From RibotLabs inc.
